Historical Notes: The 10th anniversary World Ballet Competition took place in Orlando June 18-18, 2016, convening nearly 170 ballet dancers from 20 countries for a weeklong competition. Sydney Dolan and Austin Eyler of the Campaneria Ballet School in Cary, North Carolina took the bronze medal and cash prize of $1,000 in the Pas de Deux category (age 14-24). On Saturday, June 18, the World Ballet Competition Gala was dedicated to the Pulse shooting victims, and many competition winners took the stage.
