Historical Notes: The Brady Campaign is an organization dedicated to preventing gun violence. In an effort to creater a safer America, according to their website, the mission statement of the Brady organization and its Million Mom March is to cut gun deaths in half by 2025. Within days after the Pulse Nightclub shooting, the Brady Campaign organized a nationwide effort to direct outrage to Capitol Hill and had citizens from every state travel to Washington D.C. to visit the offices of Congressional lawmakers. According to their Fall 2016 Newsletter, more than 160,000 Brady activists called their Senators to demand a vote requiring more extensive background checks when purchasing a gun.
