Ben’s Bell Windchime (2016.034.0379)
Windchime with ceramic decorations and a bell at the bottom. Card attached says, “You have found a Ben’s Bell.”
Historical Notes: Ben’s Bells is a non-profit organization with the mission to motivate people to realize the impact of intentional kindness. The organization’s founder, Jeannette Maré, started Ben’s Bells in memory of her son Ben who passed away in 2002. In order to cope with the loss of her son, she started a studio in her backyard where friends could come and create windchimes. She found that working with clay and being surrounded by people was extremely therapeutic. On the Ben’s Bells website she explains that these bells “symbolize kindess and its power in healing. We hope that they will touch others’ lives and help make our community a more gentle place to live.”
