Handwritten Letter (2016.034.0723)
Letter on lined paper with handwritten messages on both sides. The front message says, “The only thing we can do is LOVE. Fear is easy to let in. Hate is easy to let in. But love, Love is difficult. Love yearns for togetherness. Love isolates no one. Hate strips us. Separates us. Makes you pick sides and decide.” On the back there is an EKG line drawn across the page with a message that says, “The only thing to do is love. Death takes our love. Death steals our souls. But one man can’t take a whole community. One man can’t take our spirits or ruin our streets. We will not sit in the back of the bus. We will not stop wearing make up or heels. We will do the only thing we can: Love, respect, grow, unite, protect, and never forget,” and a drawing of a peace sign.
