Historical Notes: Barrie Pride is an organization that works to celebrate the history, courage, diversity and future of the LGBTTIQQ2SA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, 2-Spirited and Allies) community in Barrie, Ontario. The Barrie Pride banner was signed by approximately 300 people at the candlelight vigil held at Barrie City Hall two days after the Pulse Nightclub shooting. On July 5, 2016, Barrie Pride’s president and co-founder, Mark Cameron, hand delivered the banner to The GLBT Center, a LGBTQ+ community center in Orlando.
