Handwritten Letter (2016.034.1045)
Scroll printed on white paper with, “Letter to Orlando” printed in black at the top. The handwritten message in pen says, “I pray for everyone that died or was injured at that club, as well as their family and friends. To the queer community, I pray that those of you who are in the closet for fear of persecution, or have been kicked out of your homes, bullied, shamed, or beaten up for who you are, are safe. Because I know firsthand the dangers of being who you are. I know what you are going through and I’m praying for all of you to be safe. Also, queer Muslims, I know that you feel guilty for what happened. It’s not your fault, no matter what the media tries to tell you. You are loved, and never think otherwise.”
