Canvas Painting (2016.037.0148a)
White canvas with a painted poem that says, “‘flashing lights, red white and blue. All those people we once knew. The sirens stop and all goes quiet. Not a single breath among the riot. No pulse, no beat, a silent scream. No one to awaken from this horrid dream. We mourn their loss this day this year, those now with God no danger near, so many loved ones left do stand. Confronting loss throughout our land. My heart goes out to those who do. No one can fathom what they view. I firmly pray for peace of mind. Dear God, Please help us all find. WE shall REMEMBER this TRAGEDY aside. WE will NOT let it shatter our PRIDE’ Austin Aussie Carrico, wrote this poem, TN (heart) Gustavo Vasquez.” On the reverse side, “Gustavo Vasquez 7-21-16 / ONE LOVE / ONE PULSE UNITED / ORLANDO, FL.” is handwritten in marker. Found with a written letter, 2016.037.0148b, attached.
