Handwritten Letter (2016.037.0148b)
Handwritten letter, found attached to a canvas (2016.037.0148a), that says, “GSFTA Theater Dept. / Our Group frm the Tennessee Governors School for the Arts in theatre did a dedication to Pulse before our finale performance. One of our students, Austin “Aussie” Corrico wrote this poem, and we did a group reading of it. We dedicate this poem to the victims, family and friends of this tragedy. (sorry for my handwriting) / Flashing lights, red white and blue. All those people we once knew. The sirens stop and all goes quiet. Not a single breath among the riot. No pulse, no beat, a silent scream. No one to awaken from this horrid dream. We mourn their loss this day this year, Those now with God no danger near, So many loved ones left do stand. Confronting loss throughout our land. My heart goes out to those who do. No one can fathom what they view. I firmly pray for peace of mind. Dear God, Please help us all find. WE shall REMEMBER this TRAGEDY aside. WE will NOT let it shatter our PRIDE.”
