Card (2016.037.0367)
Card found inside a yellow envelope with, “To the place where I learned to be myself and love openly…Pulse” handwritten on the outside. The handwritten message inside the card says, “Dear Pulse, / Words can’t express my saddness that occured here. This has always been a safe place for anyone and everyone to come and be themselves. I remember all my times here very fondly. My now fiancée [sic] and I went here for almost every occasion and weekend when we were in highschool. We used to get mixed virgin cocktails just because we thought it was awesome. The bartender was so kind and would always remember our faces. We had favorite dancers. We brought my mom, her friends, our friends. It didn’t matter who came, the nights were always fun, exciting and most importantly… accepting. My fiancee [sic] and I came to love ourselves and got comfortable in our sexuality here. I would not be the proud lesbian I am today without this place. The loss of all the lives here on that night really affected the community. They will never be forgotten… Forever in our hearts a reminder that the LGBTQ+ community must push forward so beautiful human beings can live in safety and happiness ~ Megan ~.”
