Digital Photograph (2017.065.0516)
Digital photograph of a sign in front of a building that says “ORLANDO UNITED ASSISTANCE CENTER,” with the Orange County and City of Orlando logos in the bottom corners. The same sign is on the door of the building. Photo donated by Orange County Government, Frank Weber.
Historical Notes: On June 23, 2016 the City of Orlando and Orange County Government officially opened an out-of-use county building as the Orlando United Assistance Center (OUAC), a place where those affected by the Pulse Nightclub shooting could go to seek assistance. OUAC, located at 507 E. Michigan Street, replaced the temporary facility that had been established at Camping World Stadium is the days following the shooting. Case managers who work for OUAC will pair clients with contracted mental-health counselors for free counseling to anyone who is uninsured or under-insured.
