Digital photograph of Section 93 of the Sea-to-Sea rainbow flag being hung from the roof of the Orange County Administration Center on June 16, 2016. Photo donated by Orange County Government, Frank Weber.
Historical Notes: Section 93 of the Sea-to-Sea Rainbow Flag hung from the Orange County Administration Center from June 16th to June 17th, 2016. Section 93 represents a 25-foot section of the world’s largest rainbow flag that was constructed in Key West, Florida in 2003. Gilbert Baker, the original designer of the rainbow flag as a symbol of gay and lesbian pride, and a team of volunteers cut and sewed together a 1.25-mile long version of the flag to celebrate its 25th anniversary. On June 15th, 2003, volunteers extended the flag from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico along the entire length of Duval Street to represent pride and diversity expanding from sea-to-sea.
