Letter (2016.034.1228)
Printed and laminated two page letter. The first page has a rainbow heart that says, “LOVE…NOT hate” and rainbow people images printed at the top. The typed message says, “My dear Orlando, my heart bleeds for you, If only we knew what to expect, we hadn’t a single clue. Hard to conceive of life seeming so normal just a few days ago. How a horrific event would fill our city with utter sadness and woe. Too many young people were taken to heaven too soon, Never will forget what happened early morning on the 12th of June. Love one another, no matter what sexual orientation, religion, or color we are, All of us as human beings- LOVE, not hate; We have come so far. *Dedicated to all victims and their families/friends at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL. LGBT Community, please stay Strong! We are here for you. G-d Bless. Much love and support, Lori Oach (?).” The second page has “What I Want,” printed in rainbow lettering at the top and a rainbow heart at the bottom. A typed poem says, “I want to live in a world with my family and friends where differences are accepted; discrimination has got to end. Doesn’t matter if we’re white or black or another color; We like all shades of the rainbow, not anything duller. We’re from Orlando, the city beautiful, showing the world that we’re strong; We all are united; All sexual preferences belong. What I want is not complex or too much to ask; A simple request; All of us are human behind every mask. That is to love and accept everyone as they deserve to be; No judging, no closed minds; Just the chance for all persons to live and love freely.”
